Classroom Guidance
Elementary
The counselor visits each classroom twice a month to teach lessons on developmentally appropriate topics including: friendship, communication, self-awareness, feelings, bullying, appreciating differences, decision-making, career interests, conflict resolution, and study skills. Teachers are encouraged to suggest topics that address current issues in their classroom.
Middle School
The counselor provides classroom guidance as a morning Specials class that is offered to each student every other week on Wednesday or Thursday. Topics cover stress management, organization skills, community commitment, group cohesion, social consciousness, anger management, making smart choices, and career exploration.
